Our Products
Our juicing phase begins in the later stages of the summer when our team and valued volunteers begin to pick the apples and damsons. Apples are also collected from other gardens and orchards around the local area including High Cartmell Fold Farm and Boarbank Hall. Local donations of apples are gratefully appreciated. For more information about how to donate please see the ‘contact us’ page.
The damsons are picked, frozen, then processed by a member of our team into the sweet damson syrup that we use in our apple and damson juice.
Apples are taken up to our site at Halecat. Here they are hand processed to ensure only the best then go onto to be pulped. The pulp is transferred into our hydro press for juice extraction. The resulting juice is moved into our storage tanks for twelve to twenty-four hours. On most days we can produce about four hundred and twenty litres of apple juice. We add damson syrup to some of the batches to make Damson and Apple juice.
The apple juice then needs to be transferred into one of our number of bottles or bags before it is pasteurised; a process of raising a liquids temperature to 70 degrees and holding it there for twenty minutes in order to eliminate pathogens and extend the shelf life.
